Pakistan Navy Assumes Command of CTF-150 for 14th Time

By The South Asia Times

BAHRAIN - Pakistan Navy has taken over the command of Combined Task Force-150 (CTF-150) for the 14th time, reaffirming its leading role in regional maritime security, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.

According to ISPR, the change of command ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) in Bahrain, where Commodore Muhammad Yasir Tahir of the Pakistan Navy assumed command from Commodore Fahad S. Al Joaid of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF).

Addressing the ceremony, Commodore Yasir Tahir said his team was fully prepared to shoulder the responsibility of leading the multinational task force and contribute to maritime security and stability in the region. He reaffirmed Pakistan Navy’s resolve to counter illicit maritime activities while ensuring the safety of vital sea lines of communication.

CTF-150 is one of five task forces operating under the CMF framework. Its mandate includes deterring and disrupting non-state actors involved in the trafficking of weapons, narcotics and other illicit goods across the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman.

ISPR noted that successful anti-narcotics operations carried out by Pakistan Navy ships during the RSNF’s tenure of command reflect Pakistan Navy’s sustained commitment to regional peace and security through collaborative maritime efforts.

The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Bahrain, the Commander Combined Maritime Forces, the Commander Royal Bahrain Naval Forces, and representatives of several other navies participating in CMF operations.
