Saudi Arabia Rules Out Use of Its Airspace or Waters in Any Action Against Iran

By The South Asia Times

RIYADH - Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has said the Kingdom will not permit its airspace or territorial waters to be used for any military operation targeting Iran, underscoring Riyadh’s position on regional de-escalation.

The statement was made during a phone call between the crown prince, who is also Saudi Arabia’s prime minister, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, according to the Saudi Press Agency on Tuesday.

During the conversation, bin Salman stressed that Saudi Arabia respects Iran’s sovereignty and made clear that no party would be allowed to use Saudi territory, airspace, or waters for hostile actions against Tehran, regardless of the purpose. He also reaffirmed the Kingdom’s stance in favor of resolving disputes through dialogue to promote regional security and stability.

According to the Iranian presidency, Pezeshkian welcomed the support expressed by Islamic countries at a time of heightened concern over a potential US strike on Iran. He said Tehran’s policy is centered on preserving national unity and strengthening cohesion across ethnic and sectarian lines.

The Iranian president emphasized solidarity among Muslim nations, saying cooperation could help build a safer and more prosperous region. He also accused the United States and Israel of pursuing hostile policies toward Iran, including economic pressure and efforts to stir unrest, arguing that such attempts had failed due to what he described as the awareness and resilience of the Iranian people.
